CleverZip

Zip a file just by right clicking it. The pop up menu bears an item "Copy to Zip File". The zipped file appears immediately next to the original one. That's zipping at a click. The zip file receives the name of the original file. You can now move it to a different location, give it a different name or send it away by email.

This also works with groups of files, even whole folders, whose structure of sub folders will be preserved in the zip file.

Likewise right click on zip files to have them unzipped. Again the unzipped result appears immediately. Isn't this is how zip programs should work!

File Viewing

In Windows you can click any file, and it'll open in its application. Text files open in Notepad, Word documents in Word etc. This now works right within zip files too, without any extra unzipping.

Just double-click an item or choose "Open" on the local menu. The file displays immediately. That's viewing at a single click!

Temporary files that are created are dutifully cleaned up afterwards.

You can even open a whole set of related files, like a hypertext file that links to other files in the same archive or even run a program that needs other files to run. All at one click, all directly from within the zip file, and all without unzipping anything.

Software on the Internet often comes in zip files. Right click such a zip file and choose "Run Installation" to run the installation directly out of the zip file without unzipping anything.

You can safely ignore any setup instructions that came with the zip file, such as "unzip to a temporary directory" etc. These people just don't have CleverZip.

CleverZip fully supports zip encryption. It is available via a right click on the zip file. Encrypted zip files can be both temporarily and permanently decrypted.

CleverZip has its own section in Windows Control Panel. Power users can adjust the file compression ratio and fine tune CleverZip's appearance.

Explorer View

Large zip files with many levels of subdirectories contained in them are easily handled using CleverZip's Explorer View.

What you see here is the actual Windows Explorer displaying the contents of a zip file before it's even unzipped. The folders in the tree are active, movable objects. Drop something on them to add files to the deeper levels of a zip file just drag them out to have them unzipped.

Maximum Access

Double-click a zip file and CleverZip opens it up in a regular folder window just like browsing a hard disk from My Computer.

Roam about in the folder window like you are used to from file folders. Your actions like drag & drop, clipboard copy or open sub folder get directly translated into the zip file.

Simply move files and folders in and out of the window to add and extract.
